I recently updated my website's favicon from 32×32 to 48×48. The new favicon displays correctly on my website and in the browser tab, but it hasn't appeared in Google Search results yet.
When I inspect the favicon image URL in Google Search Console, it says:
- URL is not on Google
- Page is not indexed: URL is unknown to Google
I have a few questions:
- Is it normal for the favicon image URL to show as "unknown to Google"?
- Should I request indexing for the homepage instead of the favicon image?
- Is there anything else I should check in the favicon setup?
- How long does Google usually take to update a favicon in search results?
Any advice would be appreciated.
